Väderstad won the prestigious award “The Most Successful Newcomer”

The Swedish company Väderstad, with presence since 2007 in Australia has recently received the prestigious prize “The Most Successful Newcomer”. The Swedish Australian Chamber of Commerce (SACC) along with the Swedish Trade Council awarded the   company the impressive award for its efforts in raising Sweden’s awareness in combination with boosting Sweden’s agriculture profile in Australia.

The Australian team has now grown to ten staff, with the head office located in Brisbane. There are eleven dealerships representing the brand across the country with spare parts and whole-goods distributed from Brisbane.

SACC and the Swedish trade council established the “The most successful Newcomer Award” in 2003 with the aim to promote Swedish related successes in Australia. The award is given to companies that have increased the Swedish profile in Australia. The solid list of previous award winners of the categories “Long term success” and “The most successful Newcomer” is composed by Swedish multinationals such as IKEA, Electrolux, Kikki K, Assa Abloy, SAS and Volvo Commercial Vehicles.

Tim Needham, the managing director of Väderstad Australia, says - Our success in Australia is all thanks to our talented team and our joint efforts. This award is an important milestone for our team and commencing 2010 we are optimistic about the future for Australian farmers.

The board of SACC, Swedish Trade commissioner and the Swedish Ambassador in Australia, composes the award jury. The jury’s motivation follows:

“Since establishing its business in Australia in 2007, Väderstad Pty Ltd has been dedicated to raising Sweden’s agriculture profile in Australia. During these few years the company has hosted over 100 Australian farmers and dealers in Sweden to showcase both Sweden – its traditions in agriculture and its culture, and Väderstad’s products and services. Väderstad consistently focuses on the development of long term trusted relationships with farmers. It seems to be a winning concept as it has resulted in nearly 5000% increase in turnover over these 3 years – going from 15 units sold in 2007 to well over 100 units in 2009 – all in line with its goal to become the leading company within soil tillage and seed tillage and seed drilling in Australia”
